Fill quantities and fill height of BB70
BB70 holds 0.44 m³ by calculation and carries 1,000 kg at safety factor 5:1. The table shows the weight of the full bag and the permitted fill height.
| Items | Material (guide value) | Bulk density t/m³ | Weight at full volume | max. fill height | Fill level |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BB70 | Sand, dry | 1,50 | 660 kg | full height, 90 cm | 100 % |
| BB70 | Gravel, chippings | 1,60 | 705 kg | full height, 90 cm | 100 % |
| BB70 | Rubble, mixed | 1,40 | 615 kg | full height, 90 cm | 100 % |
| BB70 | Soil, excavated material | 1,60 | 705 kg | full height, 90 cm | 100 % |
| BB70 | Cement, loose | 1,20 | 530 kg | full height, 90 cm | 100 % |
Guide values as in the Fill Limit Calculator; the measured bulk density of your material is what counts. With sand, BB70 stays below the load capacity.
Quantity planning with BB70
How many BB70 do you need for a given quantity of material? The table uses the nominal volume of 0.44 m³ and 450 pieces per pallet. With sand (1.50 t/m³), the load capacity of 1,000 kg limits the fill quantity per bag to 0.44 m³.
| Items | Material quantity | Bags at full volume | Pallets | Bags for sand at the load capacity limit | Pallets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BB70 | 10 m³ | 23 | 1 | 23 | 1 |
| BB70 | 25 m³ | 57 | 1 | 57 | 1 |
| BB70 | 50 m³ | 114 | 1 | 114 | 1 |
| BB70 | 100 m³ | 227 | 1 | 227 | 1 |
Worked example for 100 m³ of material
How many BB70 are needed depends on the density: with light material the volume of 0.44 m³ fills the bag; with heavy material the load capacity of 1,000 kg is reached earlier.
- Sand, dry (1.50 t/m³): 100 m³ weigh 150 t. One BB70 takes 0.44 m³ or 660 kg; the volume of 0.44 m³ sets the limit. You need 227 pieces, which is 1 pallets.
- Gravel, chippings (1.60 t/m³): 100 m³ weigh 160 t. One BB70 takes 0.44 m³ or 705 kg; the volume of 0.44 m³ sets the limit. You need 227 pieces, which is 1 pallets.
- Rubble, mixed (1.40 t/m³): 100 m³ weigh 140 t. One BB70 takes 0.44 m³ or 615 kg; the volume of 0.44 m³ sets the limit. You need 227 pieces, which is 1 pallets.
- Soil, excavated material (1.60 t/m³): 100 m³ weigh 160 t. One BB70 takes 0.44 m³ or 705 kg; the volume of 0.44 m³ sets the limit. You need 227 pieces, which is 1 pallets.
- Cement, loose (1.20 t/m³): 100 m³ weigh 120 t. One BB70 takes 0.44 m³ or 530 kg; the volume of 0.44 m³ sets the limit. You need 227 pieces, which is 1 pallets.
Handling of BB70
- BB70 has four lifting loops. With BB70, always attach all four; crane and forklift are possible.
- The skirt of BB70 is tied shut after filling. This keeps dust in.
- BB70 is coated. According to the data sheet the fabric protects against the ingress of moisture and is suitable for rain and outdoor storage. UV light still weakens it.
- When filled, BB70 weighs up to 1,000 kg. Lifting equipment, lifting accessories and ground must be rated for this.
- A pallet holds 450 pieces of BB70 (9 bundles of 50 pieces). Store unused bags in their original packaging.

For BB70 the data sheet gives one value unclearly or not at all: the fabric weight in g/m². It says “on request” there. We confirm the value in writing before your order. Plan lifting equipment, filling and number of pallets only with it, and ask via the enquiry form.
