Fill quantities and fill height of BB90
BB90 holds 0.89 m³ by calculation and carries 1,000 kg at safety factor 5:1. The table shows the weight of the full bag and the permitted fill height.
| Items | Material (guide value) | Bulk density t/m³ | Weight at full volume | max. fill height | Fill level |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BB90 | Sand, dry | 1,50 | 1,335 kg | 82 cm of 110 cm | 75 % |
| BB90 | Gravel, chippings | 1,60 | 1,425 kg | 77 cm of 110 cm | 70 % |
| BB90 | Rubble, mixed | 1,40 | 1,245 kg | 88 cm of 110 cm | 80 % |
| BB90 | Soil, excavated material | 1,60 | 1,425 kg | 77 cm of 110 cm | 70 % |
| BB90 | Cement, loose | 1,20 | 1,070 kg | 103 cm of 110 cm | 94 % |
Guide values as in the Fill Limit Calculator; the measured bulk density of your material is what counts. With dry sand, BB90 reaches the load capacity at 82 cm fill height.
Quantity planning with BB90
How many BB90 do you need for a given quantity of material? The table uses the nominal volume of 0.89 m³ and 400 pieces per pallet. With sand (1.50 t/m³), the load capacity of 1,000 kg limits the fill quantity per bag to 0.67 m³.
| Items | Material quantity | Bags at full volume | Pallets | Bags for sand at the load capacity limit | Pallets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BB90 | 10 m³ | 12 | 1 | 15 | 1 |
| BB90 | 25 m³ | 29 | 1 | 38 | 1 |
| BB90 | 50 m³ | 57 | 1 | 75 | 1 |
| BB90 | 100 m³ | 113 | 1 | 150 | 1 |
Worked example for 100 m³ of material
How many BB90 are needed depends on the density: with light material the volume of 0.89 m³ fills the bag; with heavy material the load capacity of 1,000 kg is reached earlier.
- Sand, dry (1.50 t/m³): 100 m³ weigh 150 t. One BB90 takes 0.67 m³ or 1,000 kg; the load capacity of 1,000 kg sets the limit. You need 150 pieces, which is 1 pallets.
- Gravel, chippings (1.60 t/m³): 100 m³ weigh 160 t. One BB90 takes 0.63 m³ or 1,000 kg; the load capacity of 1,000 kg sets the limit. You need 160 pieces, which is 1 pallets.
- Rubble, mixed (1.40 t/m³): 100 m³ weigh 140 t. One BB90 takes 0.71 m³ or 1,000 kg; the load capacity of 1,000 kg sets the limit. You need 140 pieces, which is 1 pallets.
- Soil, excavated material (1.60 t/m³): 100 m³ weigh 160 t. One BB90 takes 0.63 m³ or 1,000 kg; the load capacity of 1,000 kg sets the limit. You need 160 pieces, which is 1 pallets.
- Cement, loose (1.20 t/m³): 100 m³ weigh 120 t. One BB90 takes 0.83 m³ or 1,000 kg; the load capacity of 1,000 kg sets the limit. You need 120 pieces, which is 1 pallets.
Handling of BB90
- BB90 has four lifting loops. With BB90, always attach all four; crane and forklift are possible.
- The skirt of BB90 is tied shut after filling. This keeps dust in.
- BB90 is coated. According to the data sheet the fabric protects against the ingress of moisture and is suitable for rain and outdoor storage. UV light still weakens it.
- When filled, BB90 weighs up to 1,000 kg. Lifting equipment, lifting accessories and ground must be rated for this.
- A pallet holds 400 pieces of BB90 (8 bundles of 50 pieces). Store unused bags in their original packaging.

For BB90 the data sheet gives one value unclearly or not at all: the fabric weight in g/m². It says “on request” there. We confirm the value in writing before your order. Plan lifting equipment, filling and number of pallets only with it, and ask via the enquiry form.
